2PM’s Hot Blood brothers, ballad and R&B group 2AM released their first minialbum January 21st. The following day, they were on Korean music show Music Bank performing their heartfelt title song, 죽어도 못 보내 (Even If I Die, I Can’t Let You Go).
I’m usually someone who really hates ballads, but this song is really nice and gets stuck in my head. I recently started paying attention to 2AM because Jo Kwon is everywhere and they were part of that great Abracadabra cover with 2PM. I’m glad I noticed them, because they really are a great musicians, and they’re funny on top of it. Due to Jo Kwon being cast for Family Outing’s second season and the popularity of 2PM recently, I think that 2010 may likely be 2AM’s year.
Does 2AM sweep you off your feet, or are they just another melodramatic Korean boy band?
Disclaimer: I DO like kdramas, I just have to pick on them for humor’s sake.
Korean dramas are like a car crash at a streetlight. They’re horribly tragic and sometimes just plain horrible, yet you can’t bear to look away. Except that Korean dramas last anywhere from 12 to 24 hour-long episodes and involve anything and everything that could possibly tug on the heartstrings. Amnesia, cancer, mistaken identities leading to incest, nothing is too sacred to be played out hour after hour on your television screen (or monitor). And chicks love them for it.
Every sappy Korean drama has a wonderful sappy theme song (or six) to go along with it. These songs somehow have the ability to make any girl melt and wish she was in said drama, even if it would mean she was in love with her brother unknowingly, or had severe head trauma. Either way, if your girlfriend, sister, or female friend doesn’t react to any of these, you need to buy her a pair of combat boots as her next gift, don’t even bother with the flowers or jewelry. On with the sap!

Angela Aki is a half-Japanese, half-Italian-American singer who sings in Japanese and English. If you’ve played Final Fantasy 12, she sang Kiss Me Goodbye (English), which is pretty much the vocal song for that game.
Tegami ~Haikei Juugo no Kimi e~ or Letter ~Greetings to a Fifteen Year Old~ is more or less what it sounds like; if you were 15 years old again, what would you ask of an older you? Or if you could write a letter back to when you were 15? It’s a nice ballad and if things are bothering you, the lyrics really are a nice pick-me-up.
